William Alfred Smith ORONO—William A. Smith, 68, beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, died March 28, 2021 at his residence. He was born August 8, 1952 in Bancroft, ME the son of William J. and Jessie (Pye) Smith. Three years ago, to the day, William lost the love of his life, his wife Maxine (Irish) Smith and as a true testament to their love, they once again are reunited. Family meant the world to William, and he meant the world to them. The world grew a little darker the day he left us, and Heaven became a little brighter. He is survived by his son Bruce Smith and his wife Heather; daughter Melissa Smith; two grandsons Corbin (son of Bruce) and Jakob (son of Melissa); two sisters Frances Hicks and Benita Jamison. Per his request there will be no formal funeral services, a graveside service will be held later in the spring.
