Obituary

Old Town - Velma Paradis, 90, passed away peacefully at home, December 2, 2020, with her family by her side. She was born in Old Town, June 23, 1930, daughter of Louis and Melvina (Duplissis) Paradis. Velma graduated from Old Town High School, Class of 1949. After a lengthy career, Velma retired from New England Tel & Tel. She was well-liked by all who knew her. Velma is survived by her sisters, Madeline Paradis of South Yarmouth, MA, Yvonne Paradis of Old Town, and Rita Costello of Old Town; brothers, Kenneth Paradis of Old Town, Ronald Paradis and wife, Barbara of Hartford, NY, Gary Paradis of Old Town, and J. Alan Paradis and wife, Paula of Bangor; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Louis (Jinx) Paradis and Donald Paradis; brother-in-law, Joseph Costello; and sisters-in-law, Sally Paradis and Linda Paradis. The family would like to thank the staff of Northern Light Hospital and Kindred Hospice for the loving care they took of Velma. Those who wish to remember Velma in a special way may make gifts in her memory to the Parish of the Resurrection of the Lord, 429 Main St., Old Town, ME 04468. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Friday, December 4, 2020, at Parish of the Resurrection of the Lord, Holy Family Catholic Church. Interment will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Old Town. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, seating will be limited at the church, and face coverings will be required. The Funeral Mass will livestreamed on the Parish of the Resurrection of the Lord Facebook page.
