Old Town - Valerie Jeanne King, a devoted mother, wife, grandmother, and a beloved wellness advocate passed away peacefully at her home in Old Town, ME on August 16th, 2024 at the age of 59. Her unwavering dedication to her family, her passion for wellness, and her love for nature left a lasting impact on all who knew her.
Born on February 28, 1965, Val grew up with a deep sense of caring, a quality she carried throughout her life. She pursued a career in nursing, where her compassion and commitment to her patients were evident every day. Her colleagues and patients knew her as a kind and skilled professional who always put the well-being of others first.
Val was more than just a nurse; she was a wellness advocate who believed in the power of a healthy mind and body. She inspired those around her to live their best lives, often sharing her knowledge of health and wellness with family and friends.
At home, Val was a loving wife to Scott and a nurturing mother to Jenna and Ali. Her family was her pride and joy, and she cherished every moment spent with them. She especially adored her two grandchildren, Wyatt and Waylon, who brought immense happiness and light into her life.
An avid mountain biker and nature enthusiast, Val found peace and joy in the outdoors. Whether she was cycling through mountain bike trails or simply enjoying a quiet walk on the beach, nature was her sanctuary.
Val is survived by her husband, Scott King; her daughter, Jenna (King) McCourt and husband Trevor McCourt; her daughter, Ali King; her grandchildren, Wyatt and Waylon McCourt; her mother, Janet Dickey Morgan; her siblings Debbie Leland, Rhonda Foster, and Warren Morgan, and many dear friends and extended family members. She is predeceased by her daughter, Emily Rae King; her father, Aubrey Warren Morgan; her in-laws, Donald and Nancy King; her grandparents, Warren and Connie Morgan and Howard and Ruth Dickey. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her legacy of immense love, care, and wellness will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her.
A graveside ceremony will take place at the Lawndale Cemetery in Old Town on Sunday, August 25th at 2pm, followed by a celebration of Val's life at the Littlefield Ornamental Trial Garden, Rangeley Road at the University of Maine (between the University Credit Union and Versant Astronomy Center, parking available at Astrology Center).
