Obituary

Old Town - Sylvia Nellie Green Welch Pearson (June 5, 1930 to February 23, 2024) went home to the Lord at 9:30 pm on February 23, 2024. Sylvia is predeceased by her mother, Luella Green; father, Charles Green; brother, George Green; husband, Phillip Welch; 2nd husband, Henry Pearson; son, Charles Welch; granddaughters, Jeanne Lynn Welch and Carole Anne Soucie; grandson, Joseph Phillip Lindquist and great grandson, Mathew Welch. Sylvia is survived by her sister, Betty Ellis; 6 children and their spouses: Sharon & Richard Jones, Valerie & Paul Soucie, Forrest Welch, Brent & Anna-Lisa Welch, Holly & Lenny Lindquist, Kevin & Deb Welch. She also leaves behind many grandchildren: David Welch, Amy Booker, Katie Welch, Michelle Whitlock, Sarah Laflamme, Michael Soucie, Forrest Welch II, Chad Welch, Brandon Welch, Phillip Welch, Tanya Mitchell, Amalia Jilbert, Jonathan Lindquist, Timothy Lindquist, Max Archambault and Mackenzie Archambault. Sylvia also leaves 35 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. Sylvia was a long time member of the Orono United Methodist Church, serving as president of the United Methodist Women for many years. She was an avid bowler since the 1960's and enjoyed playing bingo at various sites in the Orono-Old Town area. She was president of the Old Town Senior Citizens for many years and worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse until age 79. Sylvia left this earth peacefully after several days of hospice treatment. She was surrounded by her family members and friends who had stopped by to pay their last respects. Visiting hours will be held at Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St, Old Town, ME on Thursday, February 29 from 4-6pm and on Friday, March 1, 9-11am. A celebration of Sylvia's life will be held at the United Methodist Church, 36 Oak St, Orono, ME on Friday, March 1, at 2pm. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetary in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Soucie Memorial College Advancement MSC 50, Plymouth State University, 17 High St. Plymouth, NH 03264.
