Obituary

Stanley A. Fish III, 82, passed away peacefully February 18, 2022, with his family by his side. He was born in Old Town, October 19, 1939, the son of Stanley A. and Estella (Woodard) Fish, Jr. Stanley graduated from Old Town schools in 1958. Within a year of graduating, he joined the US Army and was stationed in Germany. After completing his service, Stanley traveled to Alaska where he worked for six months before returning home to Maine. Back in Maine, he became an Electrician and worked with Local IBEW 1253, until his retirement. During his years as an electrician, Stanley often did electrical work in many Maine paper mills. Stanley was also a member of Star in the East #60, A.F. & A.M. and a member of the Anah Shrine, Bangor. Stanley was also a proud member of Bill W.'s. Stanley enjoyed line-dancing and hiking parts of the Appalachian Trail. He also loved spending time with his children and grandchildren and always enjoyed a large family barbecue. In addition to his parents, Stanley was predeceased by his four siblings, Beverly, Richard, William and Robert. He is survived by his children, Stanley A. Fish IV, Sara Fish, and Susan Austin and husband, Ron; grandchildren, Allison Byers and husband, Zach, Rebecca White and husband, Kurtis, Brian Burchill, Brad Burchill, Jack Austin and Isaac Austin; great grandchildren, Owen and Nathan; and former wife and mother to his children, Sylvia Decker, as well as good friend, Bob Dow. Graveside services will be announced later in the spring at Lawndale Cemetery, Old Town.
