Shirley Jean Alexander

ALTON—Shirley Jean Alexander went home to be with her Lord, July 26, 2025 at a Bangor hospital. She was born July 19, 1929 in Glenburn, daughter of Myron and Mabel (McDaniels) Alexander.

She attended Glenburn school. Upon graduation, she moved to Old Town and worked in Old Town area shoe shops for over 45 years. She was a member of the Old Town United Baptist Church, where she enjoyed teaching Sunday School, and served as a greeter. She loved gardening and flowers. She enjoyed volunteering at the Old Town Caring Community Cupboard.

She is survived by sister Doris Mahar, “brother” Malcom and Evie Kidder; two nieces Linda Simard and Kathy Mahar.

She was predeceased by four sisters, one brother, four half sisters and one half brother.

A service will be conducted at11AM Saturday August 16, 2025 at the United Baptist Church 86 Middle Street, Old Town. A reception will follow. Burial will be at Pushaw Cemetery, Hudson at a later date.
