Bangor — Robert L. Taylor Jr., 39, passed away unexpectedly on August 28, 2025. Though Robert faced a lot of hardships during his life, he was a light to anyone who truly knew him. Robert was born October 26th, 1985, to his mother Mary Ammerman and father Robert Taylor Sr. He is survived by his mother and her husband Jeff Taylor; his father; siblings Gene Speed and wife Ashley; Melissa Taylor and fiancé Frank Strothers; and Lisa and husband Josh LaForest. Robert is survived by his nieces and nephews: Isabella, Meriam, Laura, Jazzmyne, Jessie, Wyatt, Misha and Damien. In addition, Robert is survived by close family friends Vanessa, Clyde, Evan and Gavin as well as many other family members and friends. Robert is predeceased by his grandmother Mary Wilson; grandparents Majorie and Edward Ammerman; uncle Billy Ammerman; aunt Ruth Wheeler and uncle Edward Ammerman Jr. Robert attended school in the Howland area, and though he never finished formal high school, he made sure to earn his GED. Robert struggled a drug addiction during his life, but everyone could not have been more proud for him being sober for over 8 months while living at the sober house. He loved hunting, fishing and overall enjoying the beauty of Maine. Robert will be deeply missed, and his memory will live on through those who knew him. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Fresh Start Sober Living of Maine, 100 Center Street Bangor, ME in Robert's name. Visiting hours for Robert will be held Thursday, September 4th from 2pm-4pm at Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main Street Old Town, ME. The family welcomes you as you are, this will be an event to honor and remember the person Robert was, nothing formal is required.
