LEVANT - Robert “Bob” Wayne Mitchell passed away at his home August 7, 2026 after a brief illness.

He was born in Dover-Foxcroft on May 29, 1949 to Charles and Bertha (Tibbetts) Mitchell. He grew up on Summer St in Dover and was fortunate to have his grandparents, Charles and Emma Mitchell, who was very special to him, living next door. They made many happy memories together.

He graduated from Foxcroft Academy in Dover-Foxcroft in 1967 and from Northern Maine Vocational Technical Institute in Presque Isle in 1969 with a degree in Electrical Construction. After graduation Bob embarked on a solo cross-country road trip to California via Route 66 to stay with a friend. He eventually decided he missed his home state and returned.

He began working for New England Telephone in 1972 as a Lineman and after 30 years retired from Verizon, where he was working in the Engineering Office in Bangor.

Bob enjoyed the simple things in life. He liked classic vehicles, watching several different sports, especially the Red Sox. He loved animals and nature, enjoying good food and telling stories everywhere he went.

He is predeceased by his parents, Charles and Bertha Mitchell. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Angela (Tinkham) Mitchell of Hermon; his brother Larry Mitchell and wife Jane of Yukon, OK; his sister Linda Carter and husband John of Framingham, MA; his brother David Mitchell and wife Wanda of Orono; and several nieces and nephews.

At the family’s request there will be no service at this time but a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
