Robert Edward Martin
Bradley—Robert E. "Bob" Martin, 87, died unexpectedly April 17, 2026 at his residence. He was born November 1, 1938 in Old Town a son of Francis and Celia (Ouellette) Martin.
Bob will be remembered for his sense of humor and his fondness for being a practical joker. He and his good friend (friends since First Grade) and brother-in-law, Bob Russell, built and enjoyed their camp on Great Works Stream, naming it Two Bob Camp. He enjoyed hunting, four wheeling, and snowmobiling. He was employed at the Old Town Paper Mill for 34 years through the various owners (PCF, Diamond, James River and Fort James). He was an avid reader and WWII history buff. He and Mary enjoyed their Saturday night get togethers with friends. He was a communicant of Parish of the Resurrection of the Lord and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He had wonderful neighbors in Erica and Shane.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years Mary Anne (Russell) Martin; two children Mark Martin of Topsham and Samantha Ryan and husband John of Old Town; grandson Jonathan Ryan of Old Town; brother Arthur Martin and his wife Joyce; two sisters-in-law Gloria Moreau and husband Edward and Jean Everett; brother-in-law Bob Russell; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was predeceased by two sisters-in-law Adele Martin and Lois Russell and brother-in-law Bill Everett.
A memorial service will be conducted 10AM Wednesday at Birmingham Funeral Home 438 Main St Old Town.
