Obituary

Richard “Dicky” Wickett Sr. passed away peacefully on February 4, 2026, after a brief illness. He was the second of twelve children born to Clarence and Mae Wickett on “Wickett Hill” in Old Town, Maine.

Dicky spent his early years raising hell, driving fast cars, before settling into a life of work and play. He joined the Army in 1966.

He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed deer and bird hunting along with fishing with his friends and family. In 2011, he was lucky enough to get his moose off the Allagash Road in Talmadge. Dicky also enjoyed traveling around the state to attend local stock car races as well as Speedway 95 and was a longtime season ticket holder at Loudon for NASCAR races. He was a member of the Old Town Elks Club, and he also enjoyed his early morning coffee trips to Dunkin Donuts with friends as well as Sunday drives with wife Betty.

He spent his working years doing automotive body work at Bangor Dodge, working at the Old Town Mill, and driving truck for various outfits in the area. He enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s sporting events and local basketball games. When he wasn’t working, he could usually be found in his garage fixing whatever needed it. Broken beer fridges, lawn mowers, boats and boat motors, or vehicles for whoever needed some help. He liked being useful and enjoyed having a cold Coors Light in his garage once the work was done. Sometimes there was no work to be done.

Later in life, Dicky married Betty, his wife and longtime companion of more than 40 years.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Wickett; his children Richard Wickett Jr. and his wife Jen, Brian Wickett and his wife Kelly, Alesia Mullaney and her husband Mark, and Adam Wickett; his brothers Terry Wickett and his wife Cristol, Gerry Wickett, Alan Wickett and his wife Irene, Michael Wickett and his wife Ginette, and Donald Wickett and his companion Jen; his sisters Doreen Sanborn and her husband Carlton, and Lorna O’Clair and her husband Alan; brothers-in-law Wayne Robichaud and Craig Lilley; and many nieces and nephews. Grandchildren Jason, Rachel, and Jordan Wickett, Logan and Mason Mullaney and Jackson Wickett.

He was predeceased by his siblings Starlene Robichaud, Donna Lilley, Jeffrey Wickett, and Rosella Dyer; brother-in-law Danny Dyer.

Dicky will be missed by his family, close friends, and all who knew him.

A service will be held at Birmingham Funeral Home on Saturday, February 21st with the visitation starting at 12, followed by the funeral service and a reception at the Elks Lodge.
