Richard Allen (Al) Lorenz passed away December 9, 2025. Al was born on October 25, 1949, in MASSACHUSETTS. He is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia Lorenz, his son Matthew Lorenz and partner Rachel McGrath, his daughter Alison Lorenz and husband Mark Radziszewski, and his cherished grandchildren, Tate and Brynn Royall. Al will be greatly missed by his brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews.
Al grew up in Chelsea, Maine and graduated from Cony High School in 1968 where he played football and baseball.
Al married the love of his life, Trish on July 17, 1970. Together Al and Trish started their life together in Baltomore MD where he attended Calhoun MEBA Engineering School. Al graduated 2nd in his class and started his career as a Merchant Marine. When shipping slowed down he left the ship and started a career in the dairy industry working at Dolly Madison Ice Cream in Philadelphia, PA and then Borden's Dairy in Stratford, CT. Wanting to move back to Maine, Al continued his career as a Plant Engineer at Grant's Dairy (subsequently Gareleck Farms) in Bangor, Maine. Al worked the remaining 37 years of his career at the dairy. His work was important to him, but it was in his time off where Al's true passions lay. A registered Maine guide and a love of the outdoors, he was often found in the woods hunting, in his boat fishing or on the ice with his ice house. Trips to the North Maine Woods were a regular event where he would fish and camp with family. Al was proud of catching 3 togue over 15lbs.
Those that knew Al will remember him for his sarcasm and quick whit. Always one to crack a joke and share his opinion, he offered hours of entertainment for those around him!
We are grateful for the wonderful care he received at Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston. Their dedication to his wellbeing allowed us to spend several wonderful years with him.
Per Al's wishes there will be no services.
