Paul J. Melanson
HUDSON—Paul J. Melanson, 89, died peacefully May 23, 2026 at his residence after a brief illness. He was born September 1, 1936 in Alton, a son of Emile and Evelyn Melanson.
He is survived by his wife Viola of Hudson; his four children Paul Melanson and his wife Doreen of Orono, James Melanson and his wife Karen of Levant, Salina Desmond of Orono; Tina Nichols and her husband Gary of Harmony; daughter-in-law Laurie Melanson of Old Town; many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a son Christopher in 2023.
Paul served in the United States Navy 1954-1957. Following his service, Paul became a concrete mason by trade, and enjoyed mentoring his son Christopher. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Parish of the Resurrection of the Lord, Holy Family Church. In his younger years, he enjoyed raising animals and farming life.
The family would like to extend a thank you to a special daughter-in-law Lois Melanson, who was always by his side to help, and the Hospice Staff Susan and Jen who had utmost compassion.
Friends and family will gather 4-7PM Thursday June 4, 2026 at Birmingham Funeral Home 438 Main St Old Town. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30AM Friday June 5, 2026 at Parish of the Resurrection of the Lord, Holy Family Church 429 Main St Old Town. Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery, Old Town. All are invited to the Parish Hall for a light luncheon and continued fellowship.
