Obituary

Milford - Patricia Margaret Horvers, 70, passed away peacefully February 9, 2025, after a brief battle with ALS, complicated by pneumonia. She was surrounded by her loving husband of 39 years, Michael Horvers, her children, grandchildren and closest friends. Patricia, known to so many as "Auntie Pat," was born April 24th, 1954, to parents Harold and Theresa Joscher in Far Rockaway, NY. She moved to Maine in the early 1970's where she accomplished her life's greatest desire of becoming a mom to four children; TJ, Jenny, Bruce, and Chris. Though she was a second mom to so many others. Patricia dedicated over 50 years of her life to being a childcare provider where she gave care to well over 100 kids, some becoming family. She always said family isn't always blood. She understood the importance of affordable childcare and the need for parents to work, so made sure all her families could afford it no matter what. Patricia was selfless, often going without so that her kids and friends wouldn't have to. Perhaps one thing she wanted more than her own children was grandchildren and was blessed with 16 of them; Alexis Boyington of Milford, Camryn Upham and her husband CJ of Orono, Michael Brown and his partner Grace Willey of Old Town, Lauryn Brown and her partner Ben Francis of Orono, Kaitlyn, Kristyn, and Cooper Brown of Orono, Emersyn Hatch of Orono, Ja'la, Riddick, and Slade Boyington all of Brewer, Calvin and Maya Boyington of Milford, and Lauren, Ethan and Christian Tardy of Milford. She was a special "Auntie" to Kayla Schweit and her kids of Milford and Jessica Jones and her children of Ellsworth. Patricia had so many friends from all over, many from back home in New York. She cherished all of them but had a special place in her heart for her friends here, Lisa Shaw, Paula Logan, Mary Hawks, Kristine Wiley, and their families. She adored her godchildren Terri Sadler and Justin Shaw. Patricia was well known for the amazing food she cooked and boy could she cook. She loved to celebrate the holidays with her family and friends. Having everyone together was so important to her. In addition to her husband, Patricia is survived by her children, Thomas (TJ) Schaefer and longtime partner Susan Best of Milford, Jennifer Brown and longtime partner William Hatch of Orono, Bruce Boyington of Brewer and Christopher Boyington of Milford, brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Betty Joscher, brother and sister-in-law, Daniel and Karen Joscher, brother and sister-in-law, David Joscher, and Michael Perna; sister, CaryAnn Joscher and stepmother, Florence Joscher. Several nieces and nephews and special "niece" Kayla Schweit. "Her family leaves her with one last quote; love you most, until we meet again." Patricia was predeceased by her parents, Harold and Theresa Joscher; sister and brother-in-law, Pamela and Raymond Sadler and her beloved dogs, Buffy, Taco, Chi Chi, and Macie. Friends and family may call on Monday, February 17, 2025, from 4-7PM at Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St., Old Town, ME. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 18, 2025 at 10AM at Parish of the Resurrection of The Lord, Holy Family Parish, 429 Main St., Old Town, ME. "Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take but the moments that take our breath away." – Maya Angelou
