Old Town – Noella M. (Coulombe) Thibeault, 88, passed away surrounded by her family on Friday, June 21, 2024, at St. Joseph Hospital in Bangor. Noella was born on February 22, 1936, in Baker Lake, New Brunswick, Canada. She was the daughter of Joseph and Monquie (Tardif) Coulombe.
Noella grew up in Canada, over coming the loss of both parents at ages six and seven, she grew up in a Convent, being raised by the nuns there. Around the age of 12, she left the convent and started working as a caretaker for an elderly family and by age 15, she was working for several younger families. While being a caretaker for those families, her and her future husband Lawrence Thibeault met.
Noella and Lawrence were married on June 9, 1953, and lived in Fort Kent for a few years before relocating to Old Town and they had two daughters, Linda and Susan. Noella was a stay at mom for several years before going back to work in one of the local shoe shops. Throughout her life, she held various jobs, but one of her favorites was working at blueberry farm, sorting blueberries.
She was passionate about knitting and one of the things that she was really proud of was knitting mittens for the children's Christmas stockings through the Rotary Club's program in Old Town. She also loved playing bingo, playing cards, dancing, traveling and going for rides.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence; her brother, Joseph Coulombe Jr. She is survived by her daughters, Linda and her husband, Clarence "Buggsy" Bryant and Susan and her husband James Pond; her grandchild, David Bryant and his wife Brianna; great grandchildren, Ian and Ainsley Bryant; sister, Doris Roy and several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 10AM on Thursday, June 27, 2024, at Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St., Old Town, with reception to follow.
