Nanci
Loring
February 27, 1958 — September 8, 2025
Penobscot Indian Nation — Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt Nanci Loring, 67, passed away September 8th, 2025. The daughter of Priscilla Fisher and Ronald Sockbeson, Nanci was born February 27th, 1958 in Bangor, Maine.
Nanci is survived by her husband Timothy Jones; her children: Mark, his wife Tiffany and their children Alexis, Gianna, Julian, Julianna and Lea; Kevin and his children Addyson, Katanna and Isis; Rusty, his wife Darcey and their daughter Casey; Kerrie, her husband, and children Austin, Jordan, Paul and Molly; Nathan and his partner; and Aaron, his wife Kristina and their sons; her siblings Angie Robouchard, Lori Keezer, Keith Sockbeson, Leon Sockbeson and Ila Mae, who may not have been her blood sister, but was a sister nonetheless; and many nieces, nephews and other family members who miss her dearly.
She is predeceased by her parents and grandparents, Grammy Violet and Grampy Clarence, who raised Nanci to become the amazing woman everyone knew and loved.
Nanci graduated from Old Town High School in 1976 and later went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management from the University of Maine. She was a workaholic, someone who never stopped moving or trying to help others. Even after her “retirement” from Human Resources in 2010, Nanci continued to work anyway.
Nanci loved beading. Anyone who knew her knew the house was always full of beads, completed projects, work in progress projects, and other supplies. She was extremely proud to be a Native bead artist, continuing to share the artform with many. In addition to beading, Nanci loved being outdoors. She loved hiking, fishing, and she put up with Tim going out hunting. Nanci would always choose to stay home, and stay warm. She had many, many TV shows she loved, to the point Nanci even wrapped her granddaughters into some of them. Nanci was an avid WWE watcher and her granddaughters will remember her fondly through wrestling.
Nanci truly was a gift to anyone who knew her and her memories will forever be cherished.
A Celebration of Life service for Nanci will be held at the Sockalexis Arena, 12 Wabanaki Way Indian Island, ME, Friday September 12th from 11am to 1pm. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Animal Orphanage in Old Town in Nanci’s name.
