Mona Frances Harris, born October 25, 1928 in Belfast, Maine, passed away peacefully
on April 17, 2025. She was the daughter of Minard and Glynnie (Emerson) Ellis.
She was a remarkable woman whose spirit and charm touched every soul she met.
Mona was an extraordinary blend of strength, compassion, wit, and grace. "Dwell on the
beauty of life. Watch the stars, and see yourself running with them," a quote by Marcus
Aurelius, perfectly encapsulates the way Mona lived her life. She cherished the simple
pleasures of life and had a deep appreciation for nature's beauty.
Mona was a successful businesswoman who, with her husband Charlie, owned and
operated Johnny's Pizza in Old Town from 1964-1990, where she made the best
pizzas that were loved by all. She was a woman of resilience and determination, but she
was also a woman of generosity, quietly contributing to various charitable organizations
throughout her lifetime. In her leisure time, she savored moments spent on her porch,
sipping a beverage and taking in the breathtaking views of Pushaw Lake. The sounds of
the loons and the sight of her beautiful flowers brought immense joy to her heart. Mona and Charlie's place at Pushaw was the epicenter of countless gatherings and BBQs, her
laughter and stories making every event more memorable.
She married Charles Harris in 1959 and he predeceased her on Easter Sunday, 2000. She was also predeceased by a sister, Katherine (Ellis) Marshall, in 2002.
She is survived by niece Patty Stebbins, sister-in-law Barbara Hatch, great niece Wendy
Ruddell and her husband Matt, great nephew Michael Dakin and his wife Amy; great
great nieces Noelle Dakin, Emily Ruddell, Jordan Ruddell; and life long friends Brenda
Smart, Priscilla Bull and Pat & Gary Braley.
Special thanks to Wendall & Christine McNally, friends who were always there for whatever Mona might need.
As one of her great-great nieces stated, "The world lost a great woman!"
At her request there will be no formal services. Memorial contributions may be made to
a charity of one's choice.
