Maxine Margaret (Martin) Doucette
Old Town—Maxine M Doucette, 91, died peacefully October 3, 2026 at Orono Commons. She was born June 25, 1935 in Old Town the daughter of Edward and Marguerite (LeBretton) Martin.
Maxine will be fondly remembered for her spunky, feisty personality and her heart of gold. She genuinely loved people and had a way of making those around her feel welcome, although you never had to wonder where Maxine stood on something—she was never afraid to speak her mind. She enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, especially reading, playing Bingo, Rummy and Pokeno, and spending time with those she loved.
One of the things that brought Maxine great pride was her membership with the Maine Troop Greeters at Bangor International Airport. She cherished the opportunity to welcome our service members home and took great pride in being part of an organization that showed gratitude and support to those who served our country.
Maxine also had a special place in her heart for Chuck Norris and Walker, Texas Ranger. She rarely missed an episode and was just as happy watching a favorite rerun as she was watching it for the first time. It was simply one of those things that made Maxine, Maxine.
She was predeceased by her husband Louis Doucette Sr in 1984, her daughter Linda O’Berry in 1998, son Louis Doucette Jr in 2013 and daughter in law Corinne Dionne Doucette.
She is survived by five grandchildren Meghan O’Berry, Colby Doucette, Kristi (Doucette) Rand and her husband Josh, Kaytee O’Berry and her significant other Ryan Baxter and Tori (Doucette) Long and her husband Thomas; five great grandchildren Mason Doucette, McKinley Doucette, Ivy Baxter, Grayden Long and Madison Long; son-in-law Charles “Chick” O’Berry and life long friend Barbara Damboise.
A funeral service will be conducted 11AM Tuesday October 13, 2026 at Birmingham Funeral Home 438 Main St Old Town. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Immediately following the graveside service all are invited back to the funeral home for a memorial reception.
