Obituary

OLD TOWN - Madelyn Carolyn (Binnette) Chapman, 88, died peacefully Sept. 4, 2012, at an Orono health care facility. She was born July 2, 1924, in Old Town, a daughter of Joseph and Henrieta Sirois) Binnette. Madelyn graduated from St. Joseph's Elementary School, Old Town High School and St. Mary's School of Nursing. She was employed by St. Joseph Hospital. Throughout her life, Madelyn participated in many charities and organizations. She will be greatly missed by her family. She is survived by her six children, Mary C. Fletcher, Ralph S. Chapman, Cynthia A. Chapman, Alice M. Gupta, Christine J. Urban and Kenneth J. Chapman; 10 grandchildren, a great-grandson; sisters, Bernardine Alward of Westport, Conn., Marie Valley of Brewer and Sister Ursula Binnette of Waterville; numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Franklin Kenneth Chapman Jr.; brother, Charles Binnette; and sister, Carolyn Rowe. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday at Parish of the Resurrection, Holy Family Church, Old Town. Interment will be afterward at Lawndale Cemetery, Old Town. Immediately after the services, all are invited to the parish center for a light luncheon and continued fellowship.
