Leland George Rhoads August 22, 1944- March 17, 2023 OLD TOWN--Leland George Rhoads, 78, son of Joan Rita (Bealuieu) and George Orris Rhoads passed away March 17, 2023 at the Androscoggin Hospice Center, Auburn. After many years living in Florida with his parents and sister, Donna, Leland return to Maine last year to live out his remaining years. During this time, he visited the homes of his youth in Surry and Old Town, spent time with his cousins, Joan Snow and Alan Cust and their families. He visited the St. Joseph Cemetery gravesite of his parents, enjoyed his favorite fried clams at the Governors, and enjoyed his favorite activity of watching Little House on the Prairie and other movies of his treasured collection. Due to declining health with diabetes, Leland spent his remaining days at Woodlands Memory Care Facility in Lewiston. He never forgot his Maine family, always reached out with calls and cards over the years. After many struggles, the Lord wrapped his arms around him and kept him safe, warm and comfortable during the past year. His last days were at St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston, and Androscoggin Hospice Care, Auburn, where he received the best care. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Parish of the Resurrection of the Lord, Holy Family, Church, Old Town, Monday, May 1, 2023 at 10 AM. Following the mass burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery Old Town.
