Obituary

Old Town – Lawrence "Larry" Alan Goodie, May 14th, 1957 to October 20th, 2025. Larry left this world on October 20, 2025 for his ultimate hunting and fishing trip in the skies. Although our hearts are broken, we all have been able to find peace in knowing that there is a whole group of people he loves waiting for him. Larry was born May 14, 1957 to Joseph Goodie and Elaine (Hamilton) Goodie in Bangor, ME. He spent much of his life residing in Old Town, Maine, where he graduated high school. Later Larry met the love of his life, Laurie Ann (Dorr), who gave him his most cherished blessings, his boys Scott and Brian. Larry was survived by his wife Laurie of nearly forty-five years, his sons Scott and Brian, Brian's wife Kaylee and their son Nolan; his brother Joe Goodie and wife Penny, brother Tom Goodie; brother-in-law Bruce and his wife Judy Dorr; brother-in-law Richard; sisters-in-law Rosie and Diane; special dog Ruger; granddog Lucy and Lola and special friend Steve Bell; very special Aunt Carolyn, and her husband Bob; and many special nieces and nephews. Larry was predeceased by his parents Joseph Goodie and Elaine (Hamilton) Goodie; brothers Jim Goodie and David Goodie and his wife Sue; special mother-in-law Dot; father-in-law Allard Dorr; special sister-in-law Anne Goodie, his brothers-in-law Bobby, Timmy, Mike Dorr and Greg Dorr; and many special others who were waiting for him with a beer and smokes in hand ready to play a game of cards and show him all the good hunting spots. Larry was an avid hunter and fisher, he truly enjoyed every minute he was able to spend on the water or in the woods. He was always one phone call away anytime someone needed to know how to do something anywhere from carpentry, boiler work, car mechanics, or just life in general. He was the kind of guy that without hesitation would drop anything and everything to help the people he cared about. Larry was the world's greatest husband, father, father-in-law, brother, uncle and friend to anyone lucky enough to have him in their life. Over the last two years though, he received his favorite title of all times, Grampy where he truly shined. He truly enjoyed every moment he got to spend with his grandson Nolan, and Nolan enjoyed spending time with Grampy from snuggling on the couch, to playing with lights, to chasing each other around, to playing peek a boo. Grampy will never be forgotten in our house and Nolan will always know the kind of man his Grampy was. Services honoring the great man Larry was will be Tuesday, October 28th from 4pm-6pm at Birmingham Funeral Home 438 Main Street Old Town, ME. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Maine Youth Fish and Game Association in Larry's name to continue the love for the Maine outdoors in our youth.
