Joseph Louis Therriault, 89, passed away on Friday, June 29, 2018, at his residence, where he loved to be, with his loving family by his side, following a short battle with cancer. He was born in Old Town, on September 12, 1928, a son of the late Joseph and Imelda (LaVallie) Therriault.
Joe was a US Army veteran, having served during the Occupation of Germany during WWII. Following his time in the service, he worked in the Grocery Store in Ohio retiring after 38 years. He returned to Old Town in 2014 to reconnect with family. He was a very witty funny man, always enjoyed having a good time, always making the people around him laugh and smile, and you never knew what he was going to say next. He will be remembered for his funny jingles he liked to recite, listening to opera music, and spending time with family. He enjoyed vacationing in Florida.
He is survived by his nieces, Sharon Dupuis and Ann Gaudet of Old Town, and many other nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Marie; his step-son, Frank Blair, his step-daughter, Sharon Morgan; as well as his brothers, Clarence Sr., Wilfred, Arthur, Alfred, Robert and Ernest Theriault, and Gerard Richards; and his sisters, Irene St. Peter, Caroline Louise Charette, and Delia Berube.
A memorial service will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Friday, July 27, 2018, at the Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St., Old Town, where friends and family may call from 11 a.m. until the time of service. Burial with military honors will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery, Old Town. The family wishes to thank Hospice of Eastern Maine for the wonderful and compassionate care given to Joe during his final weeks.
