Obituary

John "Jack" Harold LeClair, born on October 30, 1948, in Providence, Rhode Island, passed away peacefully on October 29, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was the son of the late John Howard LeClair and Mary Brennan LeClair. Jack is survived by his former wife, Patricia A. LeClair, with whom he shared a home and cherished memories. He leaves behind a legacy of love through his children: John "Jay" H. LeClair Jr. and late wife Mellissa, Raymond D. LeClair, his wife Jennifer M., Catherine M. (LeClair) Cooper and husband Michael W., and Paul S. LeClair. Jack was also a proud grandfather to Tanya Lynn Cooper, Miranda Mae LeClair, Michael Raymond Cooper, Christopher Kiran LeClair, Cheyenne Rose Cooper, and Martie Ann LeClair. He is remembered fondly by his siblings: James LeClair (Patricia), Joyce LeClair Rainey, Charles LeClair (Karen), and Joseph LeClair (Carin Dionne). He is also survived by cousins, nephews, nieces, and many friends especially his best friend retired Pawtucket RI Police Officer Phil Hickey of Pawtucket and friends Tom and Betty-Jean Russell of Lagrange Maine. He was predeceased by his brother Jeffrey LeClair, sister-in-law Carrie LeClair. Jack honorably served in the U.S. Army from 1967 to 1973, after which he dedicated his life to public service as a police officer. He began his career with the VA police from 1973 to 1977, then proudly served with the Pawtucket, RI Police Department from 1977 until his retirement in 1994. After which he continued to work for the Pawtucket Police department in different capacities until 2012. Following his retirement, he worked as a private investigator and polygraph technician from 1994 to 2012 and served as an instructor in the Professional Investigations Certificate Program at Boston University. Jack was a lifelong learner, graduating from Salve Regina University with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and earning a Master of Education from Boston University. He relocated to Lagrange, Maine, in 2013 where he embraced the tranquility of the outdoors and pursued his passion for photography. Jack had a particular affinity for capturing the beauty of nature, often spending hours in the wilderness with his camera. He also loved taking pictures of his family, cherishing each moment and preserving memories through his lens. An active member of several organizations, Jack was a life member of the VFW and the American Legion Post 41, as well as a dedicated member of the Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge 4 in Pawtucket. He was also a proud member of the Descendants of the Defenders of Bataan and Corregidor. Jack's kindness, wisdom, and dedication to his family and community will be remembered by all who knew him. He leaves behind a rich legacy of service, love, and commitment to justice. In honor of Jack's life, a celebration of his memory will be held 4-7 PM Wednesday November 6, 2024 at Birmingham Funeral Home 438 Main St Old Town, ME 04468 where a funeral service will be conducted 10AM Thursday with Fr. Brad Morin, celebrant. Burial with full military honors will follow at Hillside Cemetery, Lagrange, Maine.
