Old Town – Jill Dufour, age 61, passed away on October 23 following a brief and unexpected illness. In her final moments she was surrounded by people she loved and who loved her deeply. Her life was a beautiful testament to the power of love, faith, and genuine kindness.
Jill’s love for her family and friends was pure and unwavering. She was an ambassador of good will, a woman whose heart was always open to others and whose genuine care left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her. Her niece and nephews were her pride and joy. Tyler and his wife Renee, Joshua, Alexa Gould and her husband Tim, Dalton and Colby all held a very special place in her heart and their happiness was her happiness. Jill was also deeply proud of her siblings, Jeff (and spouse Marie), Jamie (and spouse Alison), Julie (and spouse Michelle) and Jodi (and spouse Jason) and cherished the bond they shared. Jill always knew what was important to each member of her family and always cheered them on. A lifelong fear of dogs melted when she met her favorite dogs Pippa, Freya and Gus-Gus.
Jill’s deep faith was another guiding light in her life. She expressed her faith through her religious service, including delivering the Eucharist to those no longer able to attend church and as a Eucharistic Minister at the Holy Family Church.
Jill had a wonderful sense of adventure with a willingness to try new things – through family vacations and gatherings as well as trying new foods. She loved dressing in matching shirts on Disney trips, playing cards with family and friends, and movie dates with her nephew Joshua.
Jill was a 1985 graduate of Old Town High School. For 39 years Jill was a dedicated employee at Shaw’s, where everyone knew her name and appreciated her sense of humor. She had a remarkable memory for her customers and a gift of making everyone’s day a little brighter. Her years of service was more than a job – it was about being part of a community.
Though Jill’s passing came far too soon, the love she gave will never be lost. She leaves a legacy of pure love, faithful service, and genuine goodness that will live in the hearts of her family, friends, and co-workers.
Jill is now reunited with her beloved mother, Sara Dufour and older brother Jamie Dufour, who were surely waiting to welcome her to Heaven with open arms. Jill is survived by her father, Peter Dufour, siblings and extended family.
The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to the medical staff at St. Joseph's Hospital and Convenient MD on Broadway for their compassionate care, kindness, and support during this difficult time. Your dedication and thoughtfulness will always be appreciated.
