OLD TOWN - Jeannette V. Dubay, 100, passed away Friday, Jan. 18, 2013, at Orono Commons. Jeannette was born Feb. 12, 1912, in Old Town, the daughter of Charles J. and Sophie (Sirois) Dubay.
Jeannette grew up on French Island and attended Old Town schools. She graduated from Old Town High School in the class of 1929. After high school, she worked for a time in the office of Dubay Coal and Wood, owned by her uncle. Later she worked for W.T. Grant's, where she was employed for 24 years until she retired to take care of her aging mother. Jeannette was a devoted member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Old Town.
She was predeceased by her 14 older siblings: sisters, Mary (Dubay) White, Dora (Dubay), Hilda (Dubay) Sirois and Lillian (Dubay), and brothers, Charles, Leo, George, James, William, Henry, Eugene, Rudolph, Francis and Joseph. Jeannette is survived by many nieces and nephews; and a special nephew, Robert Dubay, who looked after her affairs.
Visiting hours will be held 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, at Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St., Old Town. A funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 25, at Holy Family Church, Main Street, Old Town. Notes of condolence may sent to the family at www.birminghamfuneralhome.com.
