Obituary

Hampden— Jeanne Morgan McCurdy passed away unexpectedly on August 24, 2025, surrounded by the warmth and love of her family. A vibrant soul with a generous heart, Jeanne's life was a reflection of compassion, creativity, and unwavering devotion to those she loved. Born on July 4th, 1947, Jeanne was a firecracker in both spirit and style, always ready with a smile, a kind word, or a clever remark. She was the cherished daughter of Connie (Landry) Morgan and Warren Morgan and grew up with strong family values that she carried throughout her life. Jeanne is survived by her beloved husband and lifelong companion, Jim McCurdy. The two met as high school sweethearts and spent more than 60 years together, building a life rooted in mutual respect, laughter, and deep affection. She is also survived by her loving daughter, Sara McCurdy, and their loyal and cherished golden retriever, Molly, who was never far from Jeanne's side. Jeanne leaves behind many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, family members and loved friends. She was predeceased by her parents Connie and Warren; her brother Aubrey; and her daughter Angela, whom she held dear in her heart always; and niece Valerie Jeanne King. Jeanne worked in many different fields throughout her life, but her family remembers her days as an LPN fondly, where she worked in St. Joseph Hospital's obstetrics department and at Dow Air Force Base. She also ran the front desk, becoming the first person to greet anyone at the Bangor Theological Seminary. Jeanne cared about everyone and everything, loving with her whole heart and nothing less. It didn't matter who you were, she was always kind and never spoke poorly of anyone. Jeanne made sure her people were taken care of, four legged or two. She loved animals of all kinds, dogs, rabbits, donkeys, cows and alpacas, to the point that Jim and Jeanne adopted an alpaca named Savannah who lives at Northern Solstice Alpaca Farm in Unity, ME. Jeanne also had a spirit of adventure and loved to travel and was fortunate to see many beautiful places around the world. She had traveled to Mexico, Hawai'i, California, Texas, Bermuda, Charleston, and Sedona. Florida, especially Disney World, always held a special place in her heart. Jeanne loved anywhere warm, using it as a mini getaway from Maine. One quote about Jeanne is she "always looked fabulous all the time". Fashion and interior design were big parts of her life. Her family remembers when Jeanne would look around the room and decide that it had looked that way for too long (usually about two years) and the redecorating would begin. Above all, Jeanne was the heart of her family. She created a home that was welcoming, cozy, and filled with love. Her sense of humor, generous spirit, and gentle strength left an impression on everyone who knew her. She formed lasting bonds with friends, neighbors, coworkers, and even strangers, her presence was calming, her laughter contagious, and her love unconditional. Jeanne's legacy is one of kindness, grace, and fierce love. She lived a life of purpose, beauty, and compassion, and her memory will be a guiding light to those who were lucky enough to know her. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Animal Orphanage in Old Town in Jeanne's name. Services to honor and remember the wonderful soul Jeanne will be held September 26th, 2025, at 2:30 pm at Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main Street Old Town, ME
