ALTON—James Howard Feero, Sr., 79, passed away peacefully with family at his side August 14, 2024 after a long battle with vascular dementia. James was born August 3, 1945, the son of Leroy and Nina (Moors) Feero. James graduated from Old Town High School and proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. James spent most of his career working as a truck driver. He proudly served on the Alton Fire Department. James loved time spent with family. His pride and joy was his camp and he was an avid hunter and fisherman. He is survived by his wife of 51 years Sharon (Murphy) Feero; two children Shelley Ryan and her husband Mike and James Feero Jr and his wife Samantha; grandsons Cooper Ryan and Kole Feero, special family member Bailey Philbrick; siblings Nelson Feero, Evie Kidder, and Louise Cox. James was predeceased by his parents, siblings Leroy Feero Jr., Jason Feero, Myles Feero, Ruby Crossman, Fern Ward, Lillian Wilde and Beatrice Perrigo. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the B Unit staff at Maine Veterans Home, Bangor for the wonderful care, compassion and support provided to Jim during his time there. Memorial contributions may be made to the Maine Veterans Home Activity Department 44 Hogan Road Bangor, ME 04401 A funeral service will be conducted 1PM Thursday August 22, 2024 at the Birmingham Funeral Home 438 Main Street Old Town. Military and Fire Fighter Honors will follow. A celebration of life gathering will be follow at the Alton Fire Department.
