Irene (Girouard) Thibeault
MILFORD—Irene Ann (Girouard) Thibeault, 91, passed away Wednesday June 8, 2022 at a Howland health care facility. She was born January 11, 1931 in Old Town, one of 14 children of Henry and Ida (Sawyer) Girouard.
Irene will be remembered for being such a hard working and strong woman. She was employed at "the shoe shop" and then James River. When she was not working, you could find her helping with her grandchildren and even her great grandchildren. She was very proud of the home she and Maurice built together. When she wasn't inside cooking and cleaning, she would be outside picking up sticks, shoveling snow, mowing the lawn, or on her swing. Irene and Maurice would often be seen walking on Route 2, 2 ½ miles every day. During retirement, they often took many trips but when it came to the camping trips, Irene always had the last vote on how long they were going to stay. Maurice, Rhoda, and Justin always wanted to stay longer.
She is survived by the love of her life, her loving husband of 66 years Joseph "Maurice" Thibeault; three children Rhoda and her husband Wayne Stanley; Maurice Thibeault and his wife Theresa, and Carey Wayne Thibeault and his wife Lucy; special granddaughter Melanie Thornton; three siblings Anna Barriault, Rosetta Girouard, and Bertha Ouellette; many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was predeceased by siblings Laura Sanborn, Rita Whitmore, Ida Cobb, Evelyn Nadeau, Reggie Girouard, Harold Girouard, and Henry Girouard.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10AM Wednesday at Parish of the Resurrection of the Lord, Holy Family Church, Old Town. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Old Town. All are invited to the Parish Hall for a light luncheon and continued fellowship following the services.
