Bradley – Horace "Bud" Watkins, born July 29th, 1943 in Raleigh, North Carolina to Horace and Helen (Stevens) Watkins, passed away at home November 10th, 2025.
Bud was survived by his two daughters, Merijane Bureau of Bradley and Vicki Heath of North Carolina; 6 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Myrna; brothers Mike and Lanny and his parents.
Bud attended school in Raleigh and graduated from Needham B. Broughton in 1963. Prior to that he was a licensed Lay Minister in 1962 by Caraleigh Baptist Church.
Bud served his country in the Air Force, where he worked as a B52 mechanic at Dow Air Field and in Guam and was honorably retired in 1967. He and Myrna married in 1965. Bud also served on the Old Town Police Force as a dispatcher and patrolman in 1970. He was employed by GTE Osram Sylvania for 31 years, retiring in 1999, then he worked as a MHRT 1 for OH1, serving people with special needs.
Bud was an active member of United Baptist Church of Old Town, serving as deacon and Sunday School teacher. His passion was working with international students, helping them move closer to God. Bud also enjoyed golf, racquetball, hiking, fishing and cooking Sunday Dinner. Also he loved being a freelance Driver's Ed Instructor to many.
The family would like to give special thanks to the home health and Northern Light Hospice teams, and to his brother-in-law Tom and his wife Ethel for their visits and lunch outings.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you take the time to visit people who may not get visitors often in Bud's remembrance.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Wednesday, November 19th, 2025 at 4pm at Birmingham Funeral Home 438 Main Street Old Town, ME.
