Brooklin- Henry "Hank" Maker Lawson, 87, passed peacefully in his sleep, December 20, 2020 at Northern Light Maine Coast Hospital in Ellsworth, following a battle with Covid. Henry was born in Blue Hill, on October 12, 1933, to Milford and Marjorie Larson. After graduating from Brooklin High School, he enlisted in the Navy, June 1951. It was his great honor to serve 4 years during the Korean War. He worked as an engineman, aboard the USS Tonawanda where he received the Good Conduct and National Defense Service Medals. A true Patriot, he proudly carried the American flag for several years at Memorial and Veteran Day events.The Brooklin Boat Yard was his workplace for 44 years. During his retirement in Arizona, he developed a passion for lapidary and went on to craft innumerable pieces of intricate, beautiful silver jewelry. Through this experience, he formed many wonderful, steadfast friendships. His one of a kind handshake allowed everyone to feel his genuine love and acceptance, creating an everlasting connection. He also enjoyed wood carving, splitting and stacking wood. Life's simple pleasures brought him great joy. He loved sitting on his deck observing nature, feeding birds and counting his lady slippers. Hank spent 64 wonderful years with his wife, Jane. They loved dancing, playing cards with friends, and spending quality time with family. Together, they travelled extensively throughout the states, as well as Canada, China and several countries in Europe, where he especially loved Normandy Beach and the gondola ride in Venice. Above all, he cherished his family. Adored by many, he exemplified the true meaning of life. He will be remembered for his huge heart, caring nature, compassion, light heartedness, sense of humor, gentleness, patience, kindness and gratitude. May his memory live on in our hearts forever. He is predeceased by brother Kenneth "Sonny" Tainter, Jr. He is survived by his beloved wife, Sandra Jane Beal, 2 sons, Kent Lawson and wife Angela of Blue Hill and Lenny Lawson and wife Marilyn of Brooklin and two daughters, Darlene Allen and husband Kermit, Jr. of Blue Hill and Tania Allen and husband Matthew Allen of Brooklin, and sister Helena Dow of Brooklin. He leaves behind 12 grandchildren; Mandi, Erika, Ryan, Tyler, Morgan, Cameron, Oliver, Alorah, Gabriel, Teaghan, Elijah and Prin-Henry.and 6 great grandchildren; Riley, Kayleigh, Eloise, Carson, Cayden and Chloe. Pending circumstances, we are planning a celebration of his life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, you may donate to a charity of your choice in his memory.
