Obituary

Gloria (Burke) Boucher of Old Town, Maine passed away peacefully at home on September 20, 2024. Gloria was born on April 7, 1935 to Napoleon and Suzanne Burke. She grew up on her beloved French Island in Old Town. Gloria was educated in the Old Town School system, graduating in 1953. She excelled in basketball and softball, resulting in her induction into the Old Town High School Hall of Fame. Gloria married her high school sweetheart, Richard Boucher, on July 4, 1960 and together they raised 5 children. After her kids were grown, she worked in food services at the University of Maine until her retirement in 1997. Gloria was a communicant of the Holy Family Parish and was a member of the Holy Family community. She was an avid fan of all New England professional sports teams. Gloria loved to cook and opened her home to all. She enjoyed family outings to the coast of Maine and gatherings with her family. Gloria was blessed with many dear friends throughout her lifetime, including her Tuesday night club group. She is survived by her children, Bud Cadorette (Rhonda), Donna Buchanan (Joey), Paul Boucher (Wendy), Gail Boucher (Sharon Siebert), Carla Rice (Tim Ellis), and three very special nieces, Lynne Woods, Barbie Deshane, and Carol King. Also, special friends, Rita Costello and Yvonne Paradis. Gloria is also survived by many special nieces, nephews, and in-laws. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Courtney Gervais (Paul), Allison Beal (Derrick), Kendall Gibbs (Justin Smith), Steven Gibbs (Kayla Dube), Peyton Boucher (James Nickerson), Kayleigh Thomas (Mark), Riley Garland (Tom), Madison Mahan (Robenson Saintard), and Erica Rice (Gustavo Correa). Bonus grandchildren Caidra Hassanzada (Qais), Timothy Ellis (Jenna Gray), and Nicholas Siebert (Ashli). Great grandchildren, Evan, Charlotte, Lyric, Liam, River, Jamar, Otto, Zula, Kamari, and Hakeem. Gloria was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Dickie, her sister Betty and brother Patrick, a special sister-in-law Jean Butler, and special friend and cousin, Betty Mederios. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Meaghan from CHCS for the wonderful care and support she provided. The family is especially grateful to our amazing sister, Carla, for her around the clock care of our mom. Visiting hours will be held at Birmingham Funeral Home on Sunday, September 29, from 5:00- 7:00pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, September 30, at 10:00am at Parish of the Resurrection, Holy Family Church in Old Town. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Immediately following the services, all are invited to Birmingham Funeral Home for a light luncheon.
