Obituary

Geraldine Grace Mishou GLENBURN—Geraldine Grace Mishou, 88, passed away peacefully February 20, 2022. She was born August 11, 1933 in Old Town. Geri attended schools in Old Town and graduated high school from Somerset Academy in Athens Maine. She then attended the University of Maine at Farmington and earned a bachelor's degree in education. Geri moved to Illinois and taught grade school for 29 years. She loved her young students and had many stories to tell about the amusing things they said to her over the years as a teacher. As a young girl, Geri had a tough go of it, having to go to the Shriners hospital in Boston to undergo surgery on her hip, and in later years had to have another surgery to fuse her hip which made her life difficult for her being unable to bend and was very painful in her later years. She attended Pine Tree Camp as a child and a young teen and always spoke of it with fondness; having a special camp counselor that helped her a great deal. During Geri's teaching career, she would come home to summer at her camp and Pushaw Lake filling up on Coffee Pot sandwiches, ice tea, and LaBree's donuts. Enjoyed seeing her much loved nieces, nephews and family! Following her retirement in 1988 Geri moved back to her beloved state of Maine and settled down in Glenburn. Geri was an avid reader and lover of football. Geri was an EMMC volunteer in early years of being back home. Geri was predeceased by her father Jerome Mishou, her mother Annie Carr, sister Ernestine Madden brother Jerome "Sonny" Mishou and close friend and neighbor Mary Pryce. She is survived by a special brother-in-law Fernald Madden and cousins in Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, and Maine and many wonderful nieces and nephews in Maine. Memorial service will be held at a later date for the immediate family.
