Obituary

A proud member of the Penobscot Nation, Geraldine Nicolar Connolly Haddad, age 91, from Indian Island, Maine, passed quietly in her home with her loved ones by her side on the morning of May 8 2025. Geraldine is survived by one brother, Leroy Nicolar and one sister Emma Nicolar, both from Indian Island, Maine. Geraldine was predeceased by four brothers and three sisters and was happy to know she will meet up with them on her journey to the spirit world where she will also be joining all of her ancestors, family and friends who have gone before her. Geraldine was blessed with five children, Eugene Connolly of Casco, Maine, Roxanne Carlson of Indian Island, Maine, Michael Connolly of Argyle, Maine, Tami Connolly of Argyle, Maine, and Tracy Swiantek of North Charleston, South Carolina. Along with her five children, Geraldine is survived by nine grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Although Geraldine had worked various jobs throughout her life, family was always her first priority. Per Geraldine's request our mom wanted to express a special thank you to Dawn Kelly, Andrea Petrario, and Rochelle Carlson for being a special part of her life. A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, May 14, 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Sockalexis Arena on Indian Island with a pot luck to follow.. In lieu of flowers the family asks that a donation in Geraldine's honor to be given to the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women at this link: https://secure.givelively.org/donate/not-our-native-daughters/become-a-monthly-supporter-nond-celebrating-10-years-of-indigenous-advocacy
