Old Town – Freda M. (Bosse) Landry, 100, passed away peacefully in her home in Old Town, Maine on October 19, 2026. Freda was born in Old Town, ME on July 30, 1926 to Thomas and Lucy (LeBlanc) Bosse.
Freda grew up in Old Town where she graduated from Old Town High School in 1944. She worked several jobs in the area, but most importantly was a homemaker to her four boys.
Above all else Freda was a faithful Catholic, attending Holy Family Parish. She enjoyed her work as the Lord’s servant, making quilts for children around the world, delivering food and treats to families in need, and teaching catechism classes. Freda was the first female Eucharistic Minister that was allowed to serve the Body of Christ in a Catholic service. Freda had a great group of girlfriends who would gather around the kitchen table to play cards and enjoy one another’s company. Freda also loved projects - it wouldn’t be surprising for her to re-wallpaper a room in an afternoon with bargains she found at Mardens or yard sales. If she wasn’t doing a project in the house, she was often tending the flowers outside. Occasionally, if the neighbors had a flower she liked, she would go next door and “adopt” the flowers and bring them back home to her flower bed (thank goodness for kind neighbors).
Freda was married to the love of her life, Clayton Landry in 1944. She was quoted as saying, “only the first 50 years of marriage are hard”. Freda is survived by two sons, Bob Landry and his wife, Chris of Bradenton, FL and John Landry of Yuba City, CA; daughter- in-law, Shirley Landry, and her constant care and companion daughter-in-law, Marla Landry. Seven grandchildren, Rob Landry and his wife, Susie, David Landry and his wife, Carol, Carrie Landry, Steven Landry, Angela McLaughlin and her husband, Gary, Kimberly Robinson and her husband, Brocke, and Samantha Belcher and her husband, Mike, 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Freda was predeceased by her husband, Clayton, two of her sons, Larry Landry and Mike Landry.
A Catholic Mass will be held on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, at 10:00am at Holy Family Parish, 429 Main St, Old Town, ME 04468. Friends may gather for light refreshments following the mass at Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St. Old Town from 11:00-1:00pm.
