Obituary

Eva E. Kennedy, 96, died peacefully on June 24, 2025 surrounded by loved ones. She was born on October 23, 1928 in Old Town. Eva loved telling stories about growing up in Alton and riding her childhood horse Lady to her one-room schoolhouse. A graduate of OTHS in 1947, she was skilled at hand sewing shoes, and with her husband, she started the Milo Pentecostal Church, serving for over 40 years. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting, often making hats and mittens to donate to the OTFD and various organizations. For nearly 20 years she volunteered as a Foster Grandparent at local Head Starts, was on the Grandparent Program Advisory Board, and received several awards for her many years of service and volunteerism. Eva had a zest for life that couldn't be denied and was known for her laughter and love for pulling pranks on family and friends. She was someone many relied on for guidance and affectionately became "Gram" to so many who were fortunate enough to cross her path. Eva was predeceased by her parents Mildred Wright and Edward Pratt, husband Rev. Sterling Kennedy, sister Ruth Estes, and granddaughter Kristina Hulbert. She is survived by her daughters Brenda Martell (husband) Steve, Rhoda Kennedy-DuDevoir (husband) Thomas, Victoria Kennedy-LePage (husband) Paul, Lathelia Babin (husband) Craig; nephew Paul Estes; grandchildren Adam Martell, Erika Kennedy, Sean Babin, Mark Hulbert, Jen Mooney, and Justin LePage; her great-grandchildren Cameron, Carlie, Matthew, Izzy, Theodore, Jaidyn, and Levi. And, several other nieces and nephews, and her many friends at Marsh Island. One of Eva's favorite quotes: "Lord keep your arm around my shoulder, and your hand across my mouth." Visiting hours with reception to be held Fri, June 27th, 11am-1pm at Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St., Old Town; with funeral services to follow at 1pm officiated by Rev. Theresa Oliver and Rev.
