Eugene Buck, 71, passed away peacefully at home in Milford, Maine, with his family by his side on March 5, 2026.
Eugene was born on July 17, 1954, in Old Town, Maine, to Rose and Amos "Bud" Buck. During his childhood, his family moved to Pennsylvania due to his father's service in the United States Air Force, where Eugene grew up and attended school. He later returned to Maine, where he settled in Milford with his beloved wife, Karen.
Eugene was a true outdoorsman who found great joy in hunting and fishing. One of his favorite traditions was the annual spring "guy's fishing trip" which he shared with close friends and family. For the past 20 years, his family gathered at their camp at Dobsi, where countless memories were made. Eugene loved those trips so much that at the end of each stay, he would always ask if they could stay just one more day.
He enjoyed games of all kinds, especially cards, darts, and horseshoes. Eugene frequently played in tournaments with friends and proudly brought home many trophies and awards. He was also an avid coin collector who enjoyed attending coin shows and buying and selling coins on eBay.
Another passion of Eugene's was firearms collecting and shooting, whether it was at camp or at the range. Yet, above all his hobbies, Eugene's greatest pride was his family. He loved spending time outdoors with them, making large pancake breakfasts, and even coaching his son Nick's Little League team.
Eugene will be remembered most for his kindness, humor, and vibrant personality. He had a way of lighting up every room he entered and was often the life of the party. He was always friendly and social, and made friends everywhere he went. To know Eugene was to know a kindhearted and genuine man.
He was predeceased by his parents, Rose and Amos "Bud" Buck; his brothers, Stanley and Linwood Buck; and his father-in-law, Robert LaPlante.
He is survived by his loving wife, Karen; his daughter Michelle Humphrey and her husband Kenyon; his daughter Amy Dupuis and her husband Matthew; and his son Nicholas Buck and his wife Hiedi; grandchildren Madison, Rowan, Kaiya, Jace, and Kinsley; sisters Dottie Buxton, Robin Sibley and her husband Jimmy, and Susan Dugan and her husband Danny; his brother Arthur Buck and his significant other Grace Davis; his sister-in-law Evelyn Buck; as well as many nieces and nephews. He will also be deeply missed by the many friends he leaves behind.
A celebration of life will be held at Birmingham Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 11, beginning at 4:00 p.m.
