Houlton - Edna L. Margison, 87, beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away at Madigan Estates, Houlton on June 12th, 2025. Born on March 23rd, 1938, the daughter of William Henry Madden and Hazel Francis (Cunningham) Madden.
She is survived by her children George Margison, Wesley Margison and wife Patricia, Jill Paradis and husband Paul, and Vernon Margison; brother Martin Madden and several loving nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Edna is predeceased by children Roxanne Fredericks, John Margison, Tony Margison, Jack Margison and Dwight Margison; grandson Michael Williams; great granddaughter Maya Dore and siblings Charles Madden, Ronald Madden, Elizabeth Young, and Dean Madden and her companion Morris Brewer.
Edna's love for the outdoors ran deep, deeper than most would expect, and certainly more than she ever let on with words. She wasn't one to sit still for long if there was sunshine to feel, earth to dig, or trails to follow.
Fishing held a special place in her heart. She had a knack for it, more than once out-fishing the entire family during a single afternoon, to the amusement (and sometimes exasperation) of those who couldn't quite figure out how she did it.
Despite not knowing how to swim and refusing a life vest, Edna never turned down a chance to go canoeing. She glided across the water with calm determination, even as her children and grandchildren looked on from the shore, half proud and half anxious.
Edna was a fiercely loving mother and grandmother, and a constant source of strength and laughter for her family. Her absence leaves a space that cannot be filled, but her legacy lives on in the memories made of countless fishing trips, garden days, and campfire nights.
She will be deeply missed and forever cherished by all who knew her.
The family would like to thank the staff at Madigan Estates for the care and compassion given to Edna during her time there. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the National Pediatric Cancer Foundation.
