Obituary

Edmond "Ed" Edward Moreau (Mo) passed away peacefully on December 28, 2025 surrounded by his loving family at the age of 95. A dedicated father and loving grandfather (Pepe, as his grandchildren called him), Ed is survived by his two daughters and sons-in-laws, Jeannette Moreau Rimsa and William Rimsa Jr. and Jennifer Moreau Gleason and Kevin Gleason, and his grandchildren, Madeleine Rimsa Goolkasian, Zachary Rimsa, and Aimee Gleason. Ed is remembered for his exceptional baking and woodworking skills, keen wit, and tireless work ethic. Ed was born in Old Town, Maine, on July 31, 1930, to his parents, Marguerite and Archille "Archie" Moreau. He graduated class of 1949 from Old Town High School, and enlisted in the United States Air Force. Leaving Maine for the first time, he took a three-day bus journey to basic training in San Antonio, Texas. He served during the Korean War traveling to Northern California, Germany, England and Texas as an aircraft mechanic. He was honorably discharged in 1956 and proudly supported the U.S. troops as a veteran for the remainder of his life. Following his service, Ed attended both Wentworth Institute of Technology and Northeastern University, receiving two Associate's degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Electronics. He then worked at Raytheon, where he met his late ex-wife Judith "Judy" Hockaday Moreau. The couple married in 1960 in Jamaica Plain, MA, and bought their home in 1966 in Bedford, MA where they raised their two daughters. A hard-working father, Ed taught his girls outdoor skills like fishing, hunting, and gardening. Ed was always busy working on home improvement projects, fashioning furniture and cabinetry for his and his family's homes. He took hunting trips to his cabin in Greenbush, Maine, connecting with friends and family over one of his favorite pastimes. Ed put his carpentry skills to the test and upgraded his one-room hunting camp to a fully furnished cabin, which became a much-loved vacation destination for his friends and family. Especially once he added the indoor plumbing! Following a robust career as a Printed Circuit Board Designer, Ed retired in 1998 and moved to the cabin in Maine. It was here Ed spent his time tending to his beloved apple orchard, surrounding trails, and beaver pond. His children and grandchildren will always look fondly remember the hours spent in Maine playing cribbage and enjoying some of his home-made cookies. Family and friends are welcome to join his celebration of life on Saturday, February 7, 2026 at the Watertown Sons of Italy Hall at 520 Pleasant street, Watertown MA 02472 from 1:00pm to 4:00pm. Internment will occur in the Spring at Cardville Cemetery in Greenbush, ME.
