Obituary

Doreen J. Vaillancourt OLD TOWN—Doreen J. Vaillancourt, 79, died February 2, 2022 at a Bangor hospital with her family by her side. She was born July 16, 1942 in Old Town, daughter of Woodrow and Olive (Shorette) Libby. Doreen grew up in Bradley and graduated from Old Town High School, Class of 1961. She married James A. Vaillancourt on June 2, 1962. She was employed at the University of Maine College of Engineering as Administrative Assistant to the Dean for 45 years. Doreen was extremely proud of her family and avidly followed her children and grandchildren through their various school activities and scholastic achievements. She eagerly welcomed her family to her home for holiday gatherings with a ready supply of finger sandwiches, meatballs, and way too many sweets. Christmas was the holiday she looked forward to the most. Doreen was a lifelong communicant of Holy Family Parish and a member of the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed going out to eat with family and her wide circle of friends. She was a regular at Governor's on Thursdays and Pat's Pizza on Sundays. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and Sudoku. Doreen is survived by her husband, best friend and the love of her life, Jimmy; three children, Mark Vaillancourt and his wife Katie, Jan Talcove and her husband Scott, Jill Sullivan and her husband Tony; six grandchildren, Laura Smith and her husband Ben, Sarah Letourneau and her husband Adam, Hannah Talcove, Ashley Talcove, Nick Sullivan and Taylor Sullivan; brother Michael Libby and his wife Kathy; and long time close friend and neighbor Charlene Vandez. She was predeceased by her parents and her stepfather Bernard Buck. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Sattar and nurse Haley for their compassionate care during her extended hospitalization. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10AM Friday, February 11, 2022 at Parish of the Resurrection, Holy Family Church, 429 Main St Old Town. Funeral Mass will be Live Streamed on church webpage https://resurrectionofthelord.org Spring burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, Old Town.
