Obituary

Alton, Maine: Cristol May Wickett, age 69, passed away peacefully on her own terms at home on May 23rd, surrounded by her family and lots of love. She was the daughter of the late Paul Work of Brooks, Maine and Harold and Doris LeClair of Orono, Maine. To know Mimi/Meme was to love Mimi/Meme. All it took was one interaction for her to leave an everlasting impression that would stick with you forever. Cristol truly was one of a kind, having no filter, lots of love and was never afraid to be unapologetically herself. She loved to be with her family and was always so very proud of her grandkids and their countless accomplishments. She enjoyed facetiming her grandkids and great grandkids, when she finally figured out how to use her iPad that is. Cristol's form of love was cooking for her family—whether it was burger Tuesdays or spaghetti (aka 'sketti') with bread and 'buttah'—she continuously spread her love language through the kitchen. Cristol met her soulmate, Terry, in 1973 at Pat's Pizza, and they later married on June 20th, 1975, in Orono. They raised their two daughters, Melissa and Katrina, in Orono before moving to Alton, where Cristol was a stay-at-home mom while her girls were in school. As the girls got older, she worked at the Elizabeth Levinson Center with her best friend from elementary school, Eva, and further enjoyed her time at Champion of Maine bus line in Alton, driving kids to and from school; making sure that they had consistency, love, endless laughter and safety while in her care. One of her biggest job accomplishments though, was raising her three grandkids for the past nineteen years, ensuring they had a safe and stable home with an abundance of love and support. Cristol is survived by her soulmate of 50 years, Terry Wickett. Her daughter Melissa Lin and her husband, Michael. Her grandchildren and the light of her life: Jia-Xi Lin, her significant other Nick Peterson, Liang-Kang Lin, his wife Alyza, Austin Proudfoot, his significant other, Jillian Burke, Skye Proudfoot, her significant other Dan Chase, and her youngest Elijah Proudfoot and his significant other Sadie May. She had a special relation with each of her great granddaughters who she looked forward to seeing, Dallas Burke, Amara May Peterson and Willow Chase. She was also very excited for her 2 great grandbabies on the way. We know that her presence will be with them when they are born. She also had a very special bond with her niece and nephew, Danielle and Zach LeClair who was more of grand children to her. Cristol is also survived by her sister Diane (Emile) Vinal, her brother Tim Work, her very special sister-in-law, Barbette LeClair. Her special Wickett family: Doreen (Carlton) Sanborn, Gerry Wickett, Alan (Irene) Wickett, Mike (Ginette) Wickett, Donald (Jen) Wickett, Lorna (Alan) O'Clair. Special In-laws: Wayne (Ann-Marie) Robichaud and Betty Wickett. As well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members who will miss her dearly. She was predeceased by her parents, mother and father-in-law Clarence and May Wickett, her daughter Katrina Wickett, her brother and best friend Sonny LeClair, brothers-in-law Dick Wickett and Jeff Wickett, sisters-in-law Star Robichaud, Rose Dyer, and Donna Lilley. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Gentiva, especially Melanie, Amanda, Harmony, Lauren and Peter for their exceptional care, compassion, and friendship, while loving her just as she was. Her 'GI Joe', Joe Harkins, PA of Northern Light Health Gastroenterology for his unwavering friendship and love—Joe you truly were mom's light in the darkness and she looked forward to seeing you weekly. The family would like to give a token of appreciation for the entire staff of Northern Light Health Ultra Sound department for their dedication in making Cristol laugh when it was hard and the friends she made during her weekly appointments. There will be a graveside service at Lawndale Cemetery in Old Town at noon on June 6th with a celebration of life at the Orono American Legion shortly thereafter. The family would like to invite all to come and share special memories, stories, and whatever else they feel comfortable sharing. Please feel free to arrive in comfortable clothes, as our Mimi/Meme loved her sweatpants, t-shirts and slippers. Messages from the grand children: I wouldn't be the person I am today without you Mimi. You were not just my Mimi, but my other pea in the pod. You made my life crazy, safe and most of all loved. The bond we had together was unmatched. Thank you for never judging me and being just as crazy as I am. You made it possible for me to be unapologetically myself every day. I will always love you and be so thankful my daughter got to spend so much time with you too. Rest easy and we will see each other again someday. Love always, Jia-Xi I am going to love and miss you forever, Mimi. Love your favorite, Liang-Kang Dear Meme, Thank you for your ultimate sacrifice in giving us a stable environment and mother figure that us three children desperately needed. If it wasn't for you and Pappy, I'm not entirely sure where we would be today—and that cannot be understated. Thank you for all the great memories, funny moments, and even the times you embarrassed me (jokingly of course), I needed them. Although your mouth got you in trouble sometimes haha, it's what made you, you! Please save me a seat at the next rest stop, I'll tell you all about what came after—and I know you'll be proud. With much love, Austin Meme…thank you for your sacrifices, your care, and your love and everything you've ever done for us. I wish I could tell you it one more time. I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for you, you'll ALWAYS be a part of who I am…Willow will never forget you and Waylon will know all about you! Get the rest you very well deserve, I'll see you later. ~Skye PS Dan (aka Danielle) says he loves you and he'll try to remember to keep his pants up! Meme, thank you for always being my someone to talk to about anything without judging me. The way you could make me and anyone else laugh so hard that we would forget that we were upset. Rest in peace Meme, come back and haunt me the most like you said you would. And I will make sure I use the Toms toothpaste. Love you and I promise to make you proud. Love, Elijah
