Obituary

Cory Ray Fields

Indian Island — Cory Ray Fields, 41, began his ancestral journey on October 10, 2026. His life was tragically taken far too soon, leaving behind a family and many friends who will forever feel the loss of his presence. He was born May 19, 1985, in Bangor, the son of Blaine Lolar and Michelle Fitt.

Cory will be remembered for his fierce loyalty, his love for his family and friends, and his ability to find humor in life. He was a strong individual who faced his share of challenges along the way. Life was not always easy for Cory, but he persevered, continuing forward and making the best of the circumstances he faced. Those who knew him will remember his strength, his resilience, and the importance he placed on the people who mattered to him.

Cory had a great sense of humor and enjoyed making others laugh. He was a people person who could spend hours simply talking with someone, sharing stories, and enjoying the company of others. He had a way of connecting with people, and his presence brought a personality and spirit all his own to the lives of those around him.

For nearly 20 years, Cory worked as a roofing contractor in the Bangor area. He took pride in his work, his strong work ethic, and the skills he had developed over the years. Just as importantly, he appreciated the opportunity to help others, often giving friends a chance to work when they needed it. His willingness to lend a hand reflected the value he placed on friendship and looking out for those around him.

Outside of work, Cory found joy in music and adventure. He loved playing the guitar and drums, attending concerts and festivals, and experiencing the energy of live music. He also enjoyed the freedom and excitement of snowmobiling, riding dirt bikes, and exploring on ATVs. Whether making music, sharing a laugh, or heading out on an adventure, Cory embraced the things that brought him enjoyment.

As a member of the Penobscot Indian Nation, Cory's life was part of a family, community, and heritage that will continue to remember him. Though his life ended far too soon, the memories he created, the relationships he built, and the stories shared by those who knew and loved him will remain part of his lasting legacy.

In addition to his parents, Cory leaves behind his wife Marria Loring Fields; six children, Johnathan, Baylee, Zayne, Sienna, Ethan, and Anjolie; three sisters, Lana, Brittney, and Hope; three brothers, Jon, Jason, and Dorion; his grandparents, Morning Star and Craig; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will miss him dearly.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday October 16, 2026 at St. Ann's Catholic Church on Indian Island. Burial will follow at the Tribal Cemetery. Immediately following the services at the cemetery, all are invited to gather at Sockalexis Arena for a celebration of Cory's life, where family and friends will have an opportunity to share stories, memories, and the moments that made Cory who he was. All who knew and loved Cory are welcome to come together in his memory.
