Obituary

Chad Lawrence Cotta

MILFORD—Chad Lawrence Cotta, 48, died unexpectedly January 25, 2026. He was born August 15, 1977 in Dover-Foxcroft the son of David and Lorraine (Dyer) Cotta.

Chad was a proud United States Army veteran who served two tours of duty in Iraq as an infantryman. His service to his country was a defining part of who he was—once a Soldier, always a Soldier. Even after returning home, Chad continued to fight the unseen battles that so many veterans carry quietly within themselves.

Those who knew Chad will remember him for his warm sense of humor and his playful spirit. He was a kid at heart, quick with a smile, and able to bring laughter into any room. Chad was a devoted and loving stepfather who cherished time spent with the kids—whether it was playing together, working on projects, or simply being outdoors and enjoying life side by side.

The Fourth of July held a special place in Chad’s heart. Each year, he proudly put on a fireworks display, a celebration that reflected both his love of country and his joy in creating moments of wonder for others.

Chad’s life was one of service, love, and quiet strength. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his courage, his heart, and the impact he made on those fortunate enough to know him.

He is survived by his wife Carrie; step children Hayden, John, Logan, and Abel; special “buddy” Jordan; his parents Dave and Lorraine, sister Michelle Conway and her husband Eric and their three children Cameron, Danyell, and Austin; mother-in-law Vicki Dorr; many extended family members and his dog Rocky.

A private graveside service with military honors will be conducted summer of 2026 at Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
