Obituary

Bangor - We celebrate the life of Beverly Clarke, who was born on January 18, 1938, in Old Town, Maine, and passed away on May 18, 2024. Beverly was a strong, kind-hearted woman with an infectious smile that could light up any room. Her captivating spirit and resilient nature will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who knew her. Beverly devoted much of her life to her career as a secretary at Penobscot Shoe, a local retail business in Old Town, Maine, where she resided. Her work ethic was unparalleled, and her presence at the office was a source of comfort and reliability to her colleagues. After her retirement, she entered the Brewer School department and worked in the cafeteria. In her leisure, she found joy in the intricacies of cross-stitching, needlepoint and knitting, crafting beautiful pieces that were a testament to her patience and skill. Her annual trips to Camp Cabello Island were the highlight of her year, a tradition she held dear. She loved the coast and ocean, lighthouses, and especially lobster. Visiting her sister in Windsor with her brother Dick was always a cherished journey, a reminder of the bond they shared during their weekly visits. Beverly, a widow, was a loving mother to Stephen A. Wickett and wife Lisa Jackson and Mark A. Wickett and fiancée Karen A. Noyes; a cherished grandmother to Julie, Jennifer, and Daniel, and a great-grandmother to Clover, Ethan, and Carter. She was also a dear sister to Theresa Coughlin and Dick Maheau. Her special friends, Betty-Lou, Diane and Candy. She was preceded in death by her parents, Guildford and Emily Maheau, and her husband, Don Clarke. Her love and dedication to her family were the cornerstones of her life. As Helen Keller once said, "The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched - they must be felt with the heart." Beverly personified this sentiment, touching the hearts of all around her with her kindness and love. Please join the family for calling hours from 12-2PM on Wednesday, May 29, 2024 at Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St. Old Town, ME 04468 We invite you to leave memories and upload photos to the memorial page to celebrate the life of Beverly Clarke, a woman whose spirit was as vast and beautiful as the ocean she loved so dearly. Her light will continue to shine in the hearts of those who loved her.
