Obituary

Greenbush—Beryle Cowing McLaughlin, 99, peacefully left this life to be with her Savior September 2, 2024 with family by her side at an Bangor health care facility. She was born April 24, 1925 in Lagrange, ME a daughter of Charles Earl and Frances Bayard (Hanscom) Cowing. She met her future husband, Clifford Emery McLaughlin, Christmas Eve 1941 (set up by their respective sisters). She worked as a statistician for the War Production Board in Washington, DC during WWII. Beryle was an avid reader and was known to read multiple books in one day. Her love of stats continued on throughout her life and as a lifelong, Red Sox, NASCAR, and Golf fan, her stats could rival those of ESPN. She was a founding member of the Faith Bible Church of Olamon and belonged to many clubs. On March 16, 2017 she was awarded the Boston Gold Post Cane for the town of Greenbush. She is survived by six children; Richard McLaughlin, Linda (McLaughlin) Cook, Robert McLaughlin and his wife Dahiana, Betty (McLaughlin) Violette and her husband John, Reginald McLaughlin and his wife Debbie, Laura (McLaughlin) Robertson; 10 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 7 great great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Clifford in 1987, three sisters Helen, Ada, and Ivis and three brothers Shirley, Lawrence, and Leigh; daughters-in-law Pam McLaughlin and Deborah McLaughlin, and son-in-law Ricky Cook. A memorial service will be conducted 11 AM Friday September 6, 2024 at the Faith Bible Church of Olamon. Private burial will be at Goulds Ridge Cemetery, Passadumkeag. Memorial contributions may be made to the Faith Bible Church of Olamon 126 Military Road, Greenbush, ME 04418 The family extends a heartfelt thank you to Ross Manor long term care and Hospice for their wonderful compassionate care.
