Basil "Bob" Robert Wright, 72, of Orono, Maine passed away unexpectedly in Bangor on January 9th, 2026.
Bob was born on June 8th, 1953, to Basil and Alberta (Bell) Wright in Presque Isle. He was married to the love of his life, Leslie Johnson-Wright for 20 years.
He is survived by a daughter, Mandy Nicole Williams (Tom); grandchildren Whitney MacIntosh of Mars Hill, Cassidy Parady, and Michael Parady of Oklahoma; a sister Carol Ann Manson of Ellsworth; a sister Rita Gustin of Connecticut; as well as several nieces and nephews, and many friends.
He was predeceased by siblings Ruth Barnes, Mary Jane Caron, David Wright, Albert Wright, Dixie, Wiley, and George; and granddaughter Alexandria Winship Wright.
Bob was a generous friend to many and was always willing to help with projects. He loved to joke, laugh, and smile. He grew up in Easton, graduating from Easton High School. He was driving a tractor by the age of 8 and was a dedicated and hard worker. He drove buses in Presque Isle and worked at Cyr Bus as a former bus driver. When COVID hit, he began installing cameras in the buses- a job he took great pride in.
Bob loved Christmas and especially enjoyed decorating his yard for the season. He loved plants and took many trips to the nurseries in the spring. He loved color in his yard. He was a NASCAR fan- especially Dale Earnhardt. In his spare time, he loved watching Hallmark movies and NCIS. Bob also collected caps from every place he visited to add to his collection of 140. He and Leslie traveled to Nashville, TN, Lancaster, PA, Prince Edward Island, Maryland, Flight 93 National Memorial, and numerous other day trips all over the state of Maine. When he was not working, he and Leslie liked shopping and craft fairs. He also loved to do jigsaw puzzles- which he usually completed in record time.
Bob will be laid to rest at Brooklawn Memorial Park and Cemetery in Portland in the spring. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, January 24th with a visitation starting at 1pm, and service starting at 2 pm. Arrangements are by Birmingham Funeral Home in Old Town, Maine.
