Obituary

INDIAN ISLAND Ann Irene Pardilla, 85, passed away peacefully March 12, 2024. She was born March 31, 1938, the daughter of Maragret (Ronco) and Bruce Poolaw of Indian Island Ann was born and raised on Indian Island, with extended family in Kingsclear, NB and Mountain View, Oklahoma. She Married George Pardilla and during his Air Force career they were stationed in the U.S and overseas. In 1975 they returned to Indian Island, Maine where they re-established Chief Poolaw's Trading Post. Ann Irene was active in community and government affairs on Penobscot Tribal Council and as Lieutenant Governor. She was a Penobscot Culture Keeper and was a leader and mentor for Wabanaki traditional ceremonies. In addition to her parents, Ann was predeceased by her siblings, Beatrice Grant, Josephine Neptune and Roger Ronco; and grandchildren, Naki Isaac Saulis She is survived by her six children, Norma, Jerry, Jim, Dave, Lisa, Jason and a nephew she raised as her own, Mark Ranco; 13 grandchildren, Amy, Laura, Joured, Lee, Theresa, Andrea, Matt, Dave Jr., Logan, Gavin, Justin, Ben, Annie; 12 great-grandchildren, Tyler, Keyara, Zoe, Keyana, Michael, Isabella, Scott, Kamilla, Colton, Francesca, Autumn, Chase; two great-great-grandchildren, Austin and Oliver; sister, Debbie Kondiles; and many nieces, nephews, and other relative throughout the U.S. and Canada. Relatives and friends are invited to visit 5-7 p.m. Thursday, March 14, 2024 at Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main Street, Old Town, ME 04468. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Friday, March 15, 2024 at St. Ann's Catholic Church, 6 Down Street, Indian Island, ME 04468. Immediately following the mass, a celebration of life will be held at the Sockalexis Arena, 12 Wabanaki Way, Indian Island, ME 04468.
