Obituary

Alphonse "Skip" LaForge journeyed to meet our Father in heaven on May 18,2026.

He is predeceased by his late wife of 51 years, Joyce Marie LaForge and sister, Theresa Cavenaugh. Skip is survived by his current wife Mary Alice LaForge; son Robert LaForge and partner Annie Kirby; many nieces and nephews; dear friends, Scott Willette, Phil and Rose Damien, Clara Hokinson and Kevin Ghiloni.

Skip was a longtime employee of Dan River and Georgia Pacific in Oldtown, Maine. He and Joyce retired to Rockledge, Florida in 2001. When Joyce became ill with cancer, he was a most devoted husband and caregiver until her death.

Skip was a most interesting man. He loved adventure, whether it be flying a plane, golf, scuba diving, skydiving, downhill skiing, but most importantly traveling. He traveled six of the seven continents with Joyce and Mary Alice. Skip could have literally lived out of a suitcase.

Skip's twinkling blue eyes and calm demeanor will greatly be missed by all who knew and loved him.

A graveside service will take place on June 20, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Joseph's cemetery in Old Town Maine. The family will meet privately afterwards.
