Allen Wayne Young
GREENBUSH—With profound sadness we announce the passing of Allen Wayne Young, 76, on August 2, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. He was born February 20, 1949, in Holyoke, MA a son of Benjamin and Bessie (Fowler) Young.
Allen was a graduate of Old Town High School and was drafted into the Vietnam War, proudly serving with the United States Army. He was awarded several medals and commendations and was a Purple Heart recipient. Upon return to Old Town, he was employed at the Old Town Paper Mill for almost 30 years. He found a deep connection and the love of his life with Frances Cyr and they have spent the last 30 years attending Maine Fairs, searching for antiques, hitting yard sales, and going out to eat. He enjoyed family gatherings; watching New England Sports on TV, especially the Boston Red Sox.
In addition to Frances, he is survived by his children Sharon Leakos and her husband George; Karen Cyr and her fiancé Gary Simon; Patricia Niles; and Lori Robertson and her husband James; Paula Young; Greg Young; Travis Young; and Rachel Pawson; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; siblings Elaine LePage, Gary Young and his wife Susan, Robin Johnson and her husband Ken, Benjamin Young and his wife Joyce; several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents; sisters Brenda Mueller and Shelley Keeran, brother Roger Young.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the House in the Woods or the Bangor VA in Allen's name to continue his deep care for American Veterans.
A memorial service will be conducted 2PM Friday August 29, 2025 at Birmingham Funeral Home 438 Main St Old Town, where friends and family will gather from 1PM until time of service. Burial with military honors will follow at the Greenbush Cemetery, Route 2, Greenbush, Maine.
